Western Railway Releases Detailed Timeline of Churchgate–Nalasopara Local Train Stabbing Incident; Rapid Emergency Response Highlighted
Western Railway has released a detailed timeline of the Churchgate–Nalasopara Fast Local train stabbing incident involving 22-year-old Mayank Lohar, highlighting rapid response by RPF, GRP, and medical teams. The accused fled before train halt. Authorities ensured swift evacuation, treatment, and hospital transfer amid ongoing investigation and CCTV evidence review.
The incident took place on the night of June 23 aboard Train No. 90663, the Churchgate–Nalasopara Fast Local, when a dispute escalated between 22-year-old Mayank Lohar and another passenger over closing a train door amid heavy rainfall. The altercation occurred while the train was in motion between Andheri and Borivali stations.
During the confrontation, the accused allegedly stabbed Mayank Lohar in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured. The accused then fled the scene before the train came to a complete halt.
According to Western Railway’s official account, the train arrived at Borivali Station Platform No. 6 at 11:04 PM. The accused managed to escape the train just before it fully stopped. Within three minutes of arrival, at 11:07 PM, personnel from the GRP and RPF reached the affected coach and immediately began assistance efforts.
At 11:10 PM, stretcher support, railway porters, and medical response teams arrived at the location. By 11:12 PM, the injured passenger was carefully evacuated from the coach and taken for primary medical attention. At 11:22 PM, he was shifted to the Emergency Medical Room (EMR) at Borivali Station, where doctors conducted an immediate assessment.

Between 11:22 PM and 11:42 PM, railway officials along with RPF and GRP coordinated arrangements for further medical transfer based on medical advice. At 11:42 PM, the injured passenger was transported via ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, with security personnel accompanying him throughout the transfer.
The ambulance reached the hospital at 11:52 PM. Around 1:00 AM, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of Mumbai Central and the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner visited Borivali Station to review the incident and response measures.
Western Railway stated that its emergency response system was activated immediately upon receiving information. CCTV footage and other evidence have been secured and handed over to investigating authorities for further examination. Officials further emphasized that no undue delay occurred in providing assistance after the train’s arrival at Borivali, and all agencies acted in continuous coordination.
The Government Railway Police is currently conducting a detailed investigation into the case, and further findings are expected as the inquiry progresses into the circumstances surrounding the violent altercation on board the suburban train.
